Cost savings and reduced natural gas consumption can be achieved by retrofitting the reformer, heat recovery system, and other equipment.
This technology involves hydrodesulfurization of natural gas and catalytic cracking reforming in the reformer with an appropriate amount of special catalyst, producing reformed gas containing carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and carbon monoxide.
After heat recovery, the carbon monoxide content in the reformed gas is reduced through CO shift reaction, and pure hydrogen is then obtained via PSA pressure swing adsorption purification.
In natural gas hydrogen production units, the hydrogen purification process mainly involves constructing an adsorption bed composed of silica gel, activated carbon, alumina, etc., under appropriate conditions.
Impurity components in the shift gas are adsorbed by the adsorption bed at a suitable pressure, while hydrogen, which is difficult to adsorb, exits from the adsorption tower outlet, thus realizing hydrogen purification.
The main performance and technical indicators of this process are as follows:
1) Production capacity is generally 500~100000 m³/h, hydrogen product purity can reach 99.99%, and product pressure is about 1.5 MPa;
2) Feedstock processing capacity is 20~5000 m³/h, hydrogen purity is generally around 99.9%, and hydrogen recovery rate is about 80%.
