This PSA oxygen production technology was invented by Praxair in the 1950s. With its continuous development and the promotion of Beijing Peking University Pioneer Technology Co., Ltd., a leading enterprise in China’s PSA industry, China has now become the world’s largest market for PSA oxygen production.

PSA oxygen generation units mainly consist of a power system (blower), vacuum pumps, a switching system (controlled by PLC), and an adsorption system.
After raw air passes through an inlet filter to remove dust particles, it is compressed by a roots blower and enters one of the adsorbers.
The adsorber is filled with adsorbents, which remove moisture, carbon dioxide, and a small amount of other gaseous components from the air through pretreatment.
Nitrogen is then adsorbed by the special PSA molecular sieves, while oxygen (including argon), as a non‑adsorbed component, is discharged from the top outlet of the adsorber into an oxygen buffer tank as product gas.
The purity of the product gas can be adjusted within the range of 50% to 93%.

When the adsorber of the PSA oxygen generation unit reaches a certain adsorption level, the adsorbent inside will become saturated.
At this point, a vacuum pump is used to evacuate the adsorber in the reverse direction of adsorption via a switching valve.
The adsorbed moisture, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and a small amount of other gaseous components are extracted and discharged into the atmosphere, regenerating the adsorbent.
The above process steps are automatically controlled by the PLC and switching valve system.
