Improvement of the Hydrogen Production Process for Natural Gas Hydrogen Production Units

In natural gas hydrogen production units, the hydrogen purification process mainly involves forming an adsorption bed using silica gel, activated carbon, alumina, and other materials under appropriate conditions. Impurity components in the shift gas are adsorbed by the adsorption bed at a suitable pressure, while hydrogen, which is difficult to adsorb, exits from the outlet of the adsorption tower, thus achieving hydrogen purification.

Cost savings and reduced consumption of natural gas feedstock can be achieved by retrofitting the reformer, heat recovery system, and other equipment. This technology involves hydrodesulfurization of natural gas and catalytic cracking reforming in the reformer with an appropriate amount of special catalyst, producing reformed gas containing carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and carbon monoxide. After heat recovery, the carbon monoxide content in the reformed gas is reduced through CO shift reaction, and pure hydrogen is then obtained via PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) purification.
